About the Institute

Autistic children grow up. Our understanding must grow with them.

The Reynolds Institute was founded to advance clinical excellence, education, research, and professional training in the care of neurodivergent adults — and to honor the dignity of every life entrusted to us.

Dr. Stephanie Reynolds
Founder

Dr. Stephanie Reynolds, Psy.D.

Dr. Stephanie Reynolds has dedicated her education, clinical training, research, and professional career to understanding autism across the lifespan. While much of the field has historically focused on childhood, her work is grounded in the recognition that autistic children become autistic adults. Their developmental journey does not end when they reach adulthood — nor should the need for understanding, support, and evidence-informed care.

Through years of clinical practice, assessment, therapy, forensic work, and ongoing study, Dr. Reynolds has developed specialized expertise in the experiences of autistic adults, neurodivergent relationships, parenting, family systems, and the intersection of autism with the legal system. Her work bridges the gap between traditional autism services and the realities of adult life — helping individuals, couples, families, attorneys, and courts better understand the unique strengths, challenges, and lived experiences of autistic adults.

Her clinical approach draws from evidence-based and trauma-informed methods, with particular attention to the ways masking, chronic invalidation, and late recognition shape adult lives.

Our Mission

Improving lives. Preparing the next generation.

Clinical Excellence

Innovative, evidence-informed approaches to assessment, therapy, and forensic practice — held to the highest standard, because the people we serve deserve nothing less.

Education & Research

Contributing to a broader understanding of autism throughout adulthood, in an area of practice the field is only beginning to recognize.

Professional Training

Teaching future psychologists, graduate students, and professionals — so the next generation of clinicians is better prepared to serve autistic adults, their families, and the systems that support them.

What We Believe

Every person is worthy of being understood.

At the heart of our work is the belief that autistic individuals experience the same developmental milestones, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, grief, joy, love, loss, and life transitions as anyone else. In many cases, these experiences are felt just as deeply — and often more deeply — but may be processed, communicated, or expressed in ways that differ from neurotypical expectations.

Difference is not deficiency. The people who walk through our doors are not problems to be solved; they are whole human beings — each with inherent worth, each carrying a story that deserves to be heard with patience and received with care.

We consider it a privilege to be entrusted with another person's journey. Our role is not to define that path, but to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families with humility, scientific curiosity, compassion, and clinical excellence. We are honored by the trust our clients place in us, and committed to helping them — and the people who love them — build greater understanding, stronger relationships, and lives that reflect their strengths, values, and aspirations.
